Yao staying in Houston for Final Year. Yao Ming has confirmed that he will not exercise the early termination clause in his contract with the Houston Rockets. According to his talk with KRIV-TV in Houston, the reason he is staying is because he feels very comfortable with what the Houston Rockets have done in the past and believes in his GM Daryl Morey to bring in more talent to “build a championship team.” Yao missed all of last season because of reconstructive surgery on his left foot, but according to Houston Chronicle, the Rockets owner Leslie Alexander said Yao Ming “looks like he’s in great health.” Yao is due to make $17.69 million in the final year of his contract next season.
